Newcastle is the centre of gravity for Out on the Fairway. Most of our members live within easy reach of the city, and the courses around Tyneside are where a lot of our rounds happen. If you're a gay, lesbian or bisexual golfer in Newcastle and you'd quite like to play with people who feel like your people, you're in the right place.

How it works in Newcastle

The group lives in a private Facebook group. People post rounds — "anyone fancy 9 at Newcastle United Golf Club Saturday morning?" — and others jump in. No fixtures, no joining fee, no committee. Just a chat thread that turns into actual games of golf.

Where we play around Newcastle

We don't play out of one home club. Members rotate between courses depending on the weather, what's affordable that week and who's around. The regular favourites:

Brand new to golf?

You don't need a handicap, a club membership or a full set of irons to get involved. Plenty of our members started at a driving range with one borrowed 7-iron. Eden Golf Centre in the West End and Newcastle United Golf Club are both forgiving places to start. Post in the group and someone will happily show you the ropes.
